So long... popsicles sticks

Hmm..... we just finished our bridge testing on Friday.... and guess what, I don't wanna talk about it....

After putting through so much effort and time, there was a slight mistake in calculation in our bridge, and thanks to our bastart Mr. Goh, who tried to purposely ruin the bridge..... our bridge collapsed in the first stage....

Anyway, putting that aside, we still have about 2 more weeks before tests, and dozens of assignments ahead to hand in. But somehow, I could still find the time yesterday to watch "Narnia ~ Prince Caspian"

Before talking about the movie, I'll talk about Miri's Cinema. First of all, theres only ONE cinema in the whole of miri.... (I mean one cinema, e.g., Growball in KK), I don't know its name, yet, however.... But for the sake of it, I'll leave it to you guys to find out.

Well, the ticket for Narnia cost RM10, which was a pretty high price for a movie, usual ones are RM8, I wonder why this one was 10. Anyhow, have you guys ever had the experience being deaf?? (deaf = not having the ability to hear) Well, if you haven't, Miri's Cinema is one to go to. For RM10, they give you a movie without sound, only visual and subtitles, cool eh!? We sat through a great 15 minutes of the silent viewing, in addition to that, their air conditioners would well serve its purpose as heaters in cold countries....

For RM10, people were starting to complain and some said you could take your ticket to the counter to get a refund.... but just in time to save the day, the sound came back on...... So? Sit back and watch, or get your refund?? Well, my friends and I chose to sit back and finish the show....

Hmm... I guess for now, I've got to get back to typing a couple of reflections to hand in by tomorrow, so.... see ya later guys.

1 month's life

One month, can seem long, agonizing, and painful for some people.... for others it may be a time of fun and enjoyment, and the time seems to fly... unfortunately, mine was neither.

During the past month, my sleeping hours were unreal, my meals came whenever they wanted, and sometimes when they didn't come, I would have to put up to the disco having started in my stomach. 24 hours a day just wasn't enough. Time wasn't going toooo fast, BUT IT WASN'T SLOW EITHER! Sometimes I wish I had more time, sometimes I wish the time were faster, what the hell....

Just 2 weeks ago, me and my group completed a project of building a model bridge using popsicle sticks (tongue depressors actually, but since everybody was mislead by our annoying lecturer to call them popsicle sticks, I'll just stick to that). The bridge was magnificent, it was a triple truss bridge, meaning there were 3 main suppports, which we haven't seen anyone use, yet, and our bridge of merely 870 grams would be able to withhold a static load onto the middle of more than 15 kilograms!!!

But well, what do I have to say, one of the qualifications for the bridge was for it to weigh lower than 600 grams...(screw you Mr.Goh, our lecturer. All bridges in previous semesters didn't have such a problem being overweight). 270 grams of weight to throw away wasn't a big deal... IF ONLY our bridge wasn't so strong that it was impossible to take it apart.

Just the last Sunday, we had a meeting between us and the designing company. After analysis (by totally wrecking and experimenting on our 'failed' product), we had come up with a new design (within a couple of hours..., or minutes maybe). From 1pm till 1am... we stayed at the school cafeteria, looking at 2 kinds of glue, one type of string, and BOXES of popsicle sticks..... (now I know why people go mad when left alone in a room). We spent 12 hours designing, cutting, sawing, glueing tying, speed drying (drying the glue), and eating.... (our dinner of course). 12 hours and we completed 60% of our 2nd bridge, how cool is that!?

Monday was another day looking at popsicle sticks and epoxy (the glue name), we spent the whole night completing the bridge, and finally, its almost done...

Sadly but surely, this wasn't the end of my assignments.... I have reports due this week, more essays due next week, and tests to come.... not including the exams in 3 week's time yet.

However, what awaits me is a Looong Fuuuun and Filling June ~ July Holiday!!

Thats what I look forward to... and also what keeps me going...

Sorry if the content was a bit weird... I was kinda tired and was somehow at a lost of words.... and sorry I couldn't provide you guys with pics of the bridge, might show you some of the new one though....
