Last Subject

4 days have passed since my 2nd subject. My first subject was Engineering Math, which I some how magically managed to get through it, without knowing the results yet though. Second was Hardware Fundamentals. Comparing these first 2 subjects, there were like Heaven and Hell..... Math was like: "I hope I pass", while Hardware was: "I think I might get 85+". But nevertheless, compared to this last subject.......

Software Technology. Its amazing how man's curiosity brought them to who and what we are today. Which damn mind on this planet found out that ALL things in this whole wide universe could be made simpler by putting them into Algebras and Functions!?!?? Thanks to these brains, we now have to study the cousins of their creations, Calculus and Trigo. But thats not all.... (though, it DOES make sense somehow..... that the law of mathematics apply to everything in this universe, its still a fascinating fact IMO, like how A + B is not equal to A x B.... figure the rest out by yourself, haha)

Humans tend to want to improve more and more, that they come up with computers and computer language.... and THAT's where Software Technology comes in.

Programming language, trust me.... isn't just meant for ANYONE to learn..... it really takes some skills, some brains, and some GUTS to try it. Maybe taking this course was a no no for me. But no matter what, I'm already IN it. Looking at the past year papers.... and at the textbook, not more than 2 pages, and I'm having a headache. And each time I have a headache, I have to take a 15 mins rest/sleep to recover.... how far am I going to get like this when I have just another 14 hours before exam.....??

I just...... just..... don't know what to do anymore... (thats why I ended up typing this post... =.=). 17 hours till the end of all these exams. However, failing is not an option, but I can't even study straight for more than half an hour. In fact, I'm still having a headache right now typing this entry.... pardon my post if it seemed a little boring or short.... my mind just feels like splitting, from looking at all those: Classes, arrays, instance methods, instance variables, access modifier, and whatever else there is....., it just makes me dizzy......

But whatever it is..... I think I'll do what I can for this 14 hours..... and after tomorrow..........

Knowing whats important........ or maybe not.....

3 more days to exam..... and counting (down of course).... however, I'm still suffering from some major "priority imbalance" syndrome, which usually creeps onto young adults like us... (hmm, I never thought the day would come when I'd be calling myself young adult, lol)

Games, movies (animes and dramas go in this category), and study.... which to choose? If everybody around me didn't start acting so paranoid, I might've still been stuck with the first 2 options. Since a week ago, students from all walks of courses (if this is correct grammar....) had made the library, not only their resting ground, but also their eating, studying, and furthermore, nesting ground.

A couple of days back, I was thinking of taking some time off my games and going to the library for some revision. However, upon reaching the library, locker keys were scarce.... I was facing the security guard, looking down at his desk, were FIVE (5) locker keys left..... *gulp*, I looked at the clock, 1 pm.... maybe I was a 'little' late afterall... (what do you expect from playing games up till 3am in the morning)

Ok, screw the lockers, I thought I'd just smuggle my bag into the library, after all I've seen many people do that before... Walking in, into the study room on the bottom floor.... I never expected to see a scene so spectacular, with people Standing, sitting on the Sofa, crouching in those minuscule spaces between chairs; opened books overtook the surface area of the tables, while closed books piled high and were used as head-rests.... I had been wondering whether most people in curtin were nerds so far..... this further convinced me....

Moving upstairs, I took the lift. What pisses me off is that when people somehow think I'm invisible, or when they have that "I'm more in a hurry than you" attitude. Ever gone up the lift alone, only to have the lift door open up to swarms of people fighting to get into the lift.... while you're the only one trying to get out...... My initial thought when the door opened was: "Looks like the 'upstairs' is closing".......... But anyway, even with so many people going down, there was still so many more upstairs.... I was starting to wonder whether I was a bit too relaxed about the exam.

Having both floors full, I moved on to the "New Study Area" situated next to the library, its something like an extension study area of the library.... Walking up the stairs, I open the door.... all kinds of voices could be heard..... questions, answers, explanations, definitions, mathematics, economics, mechanics, chemistry, physics, everything.... you name it. It looked more like a stock market office at that moment......

Finally, walking all the way nearly to the end, I saw some familiar faces, and then, I saw a chair, an empty chair.... it seems that my friends had left it for me.... if not.......

And seeing everyone in such a panic for the exam, I thought.... maybe the games could wait.....

*Gambate and good luck to everyone who's facing their exams soon or are now taking them.
*Hope you guys enjoy your exams. (especially those having their first exam in uni, haha)

Sleep....

What the hell is wrong with me lately.... I sleep at 2 in the morning, and wake up at 3 in the afternoon.... 13 hours of sleep, thats more than half of my day gone.....

Yet, no matter how I look at it, I can't seem to get off my bed, even if the alarm rings, even if the sun is out, even if my roommate's up and running his "Shin Chan" anime, I just seem to wake up, look at the time, then plop something into my mind to think about, and fall back asleep.... ...... I feel like a sloth....

I can't say I hate sleeping, but I can't say I like it too. Man.... but sometimes, sleep is just so nice, relaxing, you don't have to worry about anything, everything. And it even comes with a bonus, Dreams. Dreams are like sleep add-ons that allow you to be "alive" even while you're sleeping (IMO that is...), whether good or bad dreams, somehow I'm always thankful for them..... Dreaming keeps you thinking, and functioning, even while you sleep.... something just too bad are some people don't seem to remember what they dream of after they wake up.

However, I think it ain't gonna be any good sleeping so much...... I'm trying to adjust back to the so-called "sleep early, wake up early" schedule...... if I could....

Just a short post, coz I felt like it.... haha

1 week of Boredom

"Stumbling I fall away its hard to make a change~,
Easy to be who you are when no one knows your name~,
Walking pass the lonely roads with eyes as cold as stone~,
Climb inside the emptiness its safe when you're alone....

***************

All this time you lived alone without a memory~,
Built your life upon the ground that sinks beneath your feet~,
Step outside the misery for once you feel alive~,
Second chances only come around once in a Life...~"

- Lifehouse, Everybody's Someone

It just so happened that this funny song was ringing in my head when I was writing this.... so I thought I might as well put it in. Somehow, I feel this song sounds as true as can be... haha

Looking back on most of my posts here in my blog, it seemed like I've been complaining pretty much about time.... I guess it can't be helped being here in Miri....

But anyhow, exam is on the way, 9th june, which is one week and a little more from now, but I've only got THREE (3) subjects, Gone were the bad days when we had to take 10 or more subjects in a WEEK!!

As troublesome as it sounds, I've got subjects on the 9th, 12th and 17th of June ONLY.... which means I've got Math, 2 days break, Hardware, 5 days break, and finally the most hated, Software.... Now, wondering what I could actually do within those free times, (of course not studying, please....), I haven't come up with anything so far except playing games. (running short on anime and movie supplies, as its about time to go back to KK for a reload)

Before that, I still have one more week of free time.... (or study time it should be), which I'm gonna use it, probably, to explore these couple of games thoroughly. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warefare, and The Sims 2: Pets. Its about time I took SOME time to play games, though I seem to have games made my life upside down lately, waking up at 4 in the afternoon and playing till 4 in the morning.

For those who are interested, check back later for a short review on these games (maybe 1 week's time).... in the meantime, I'd better get started on playing, hehe..... see ya~

*Sorry if the sentances are a bit packed, I can't seem to fix the line spacing problem"

So long... popsicles sticks

Hmm..... we just finished our bridge testing on Friday.... and guess what, I don't wanna talk about it....

After putting through so much effort and time, there was a slight mistake in calculation in our bridge, and thanks to our bastart Mr. Goh, who tried to purposely ruin the bridge..... our bridge collapsed in the first stage....

Anyway, putting that aside, we still have about 2 more weeks before tests, and dozens of assignments ahead to hand in. But somehow, I could still find the time yesterday to watch "Narnia ~ Prince Caspian"

Before talking about the movie, I'll talk about Miri's Cinema. First of all, theres only ONE cinema in the whole of miri.... (I mean one cinema, e.g., Growball in KK), I don't know its name, yet, however.... But for the sake of it, I'll leave it to you guys to find out.

Well, the ticket for Narnia cost RM10, which was a pretty high price for a movie, usual ones are RM8, I wonder why this one was 10. Anyhow, have you guys ever had the experience being deaf?? (deaf = not having the ability to hear) Well, if you haven't, Miri's Cinema is one to go to. For RM10, they give you a movie without sound, only visual and subtitles, cool eh!? We sat through a great 15 minutes of the silent viewing, in addition to that, their air conditioners would well serve its purpose as heaters in cold countries....

For RM10, people were starting to complain and some said you could take your ticket to the counter to get a refund.... but just in time to save the day, the sound came back on...... So? Sit back and watch, or get your refund?? Well, my friends and I chose to sit back and finish the show....

Hmm... I guess for now, I've got to get back to typing a couple of reflections to hand in by tomorrow, so.... see ya later guys.

1 month's life

One month, can seem long, agonizing, and painful for some people.... for others it may be a time of fun and enjoyment, and the time seems to fly... unfortunately, mine was neither.

During the past month, my sleeping hours were unreal, my meals came whenever they wanted, and sometimes when they didn't come, I would have to put up to the disco having started in my stomach. 24 hours a day just wasn't enough. Time wasn't going toooo fast, BUT IT WASN'T SLOW EITHER! Sometimes I wish I had more time, sometimes I wish the time were faster, what the hell....

Just 2 weeks ago, me and my group completed a project of building a model bridge using popsicle sticks (tongue depressors actually, but since everybody was mislead by our annoying lecturer to call them popsicle sticks, I'll just stick to that). The bridge was magnificent, it was a triple truss bridge, meaning there were 3 main suppports, which we haven't seen anyone use, yet, and our bridge of merely 870 grams would be able to withhold a static load onto the middle of more than 15 kilograms!!!

But well, what do I have to say, one of the qualifications for the bridge was for it to weigh lower than 600 grams...(screw you Mr.Goh, our lecturer. All bridges in previous semesters didn't have such a problem being overweight). 270 grams of weight to throw away wasn't a big deal... IF ONLY our bridge wasn't so strong that it was impossible to take it apart.

Just the last Sunday, we had a meeting between us and the designing company. After analysis (by totally wrecking and experimenting on our 'failed' product), we had come up with a new design (within a couple of hours..., or minutes maybe). From 1pm till 1am... we stayed at the school cafeteria, looking at 2 kinds of glue, one type of string, and BOXES of popsicle sticks..... (now I know why people go mad when left alone in a room). We spent 12 hours designing, cutting, sawing, glueing tying, speed drying (drying the glue), and eating.... (our dinner of course). 12 hours and we completed 60% of our 2nd bridge, how cool is that!?

Monday was another day looking at popsicle sticks and epoxy (the glue name), we spent the whole night completing the bridge, and finally, its almost done...

Sadly but surely, this wasn't the end of my assignments.... I have reports due this week, more essays due next week, and tests to come.... not including the exams in 3 week's time yet.

However, what awaits me is a Looong Fuuuun and Filling June ~ July Holiday!!

Thats what I look forward to... and also what keeps me going...

Sorry if the content was a bit weird... I was kinda tired and was somehow at a lost of words.... and sorry I couldn't provide you guys with pics of the bridge, might show you some of the new one though....
