"So? What are you gonna do now?"
"So? What are you gonna do now?" My mom voiced from behind me, eyes still slightly on the Television set. She loved watching those soap operas showing at 7 to 8 daily, but right now she appeared a bit more concerned about my future.
"Me? What are you gonna do now?" I re-directed the question back at her, pointing out that she haven't actually been doing anything lately, except housework and lazing in front of that talking black box.
"I don't know, I'm following you. I'm just gonna be your chef now that you can find a job. My job for raising you up is almost done now."
I understood that she's at an elderly age now, that she hadn't been feeling well lately, that she was past the age of retirement, and that her 'job', as a mother, has somewhat come to an end. For 21 years she's raised me, to be able to live on my own, she succeeded, despite being a single mom. And after all those long years of sweat, tears, and hard work, it's over. It's about time I took care of her instead.
However, I really didn't know where to start yet. But life didn't care whether I knew or not, because things were pretty desperate. For the last couple of months, she wasn't feeling well enough to be out and moving around for too long a day, so we're living on her life savings now. It wasn't much, and it wouldn't last long. We both knew that. Something had to be done.
"Hmmm.... I was thinking of enjoying for the meanwhile. Maybe find a job next year.... if I'm in the mood...." I didn't sound convincing, although that really was my actual plan. My eyes were fixed on the first person shooter game on my laptop screen, shooting away at the mutant monsters in the game.
At the same time, I was terribly groggy. Sitting on 11 hours on a car isn't all that awakening. Especially if the day was hot and you're getting yourself lost in a foreign, neighboring country. I'd just arrived 2 hours ago, I was already exhausted. I really couldn't be bothered about this right now. I hated troublesome stuff.
